Best Practices in Crafting Forms, Legal Documents and Contracts for the Hospital Industry
Many hospital forms, documents, medical records and contracts currently used in medical institutions and clinics are obsolete and deficient, or do not contain provisions or entries that are advantageous to them. This unique program aims to help protect institutions and medical practitioners from legal liabilities in the event of issues that stem from entries in the forms, legal documents and contracts they use. Various new forms and provisions in contracts will be presented to help medical practitioners and their institutions correct deficiencies and improve documentation as a defense against lawsuits and sanctions— from patients, affiliates and outsourced service providers to government regulatory bodies—that could run into millions of pesos in liabilities.
The lessons and best practices that attendees will learn and benefit from in this seminar are based on many years of study, valuable research and actual experiences. The knowledge gained from this program can immediately be applied as practical solutions to the problems of hospitals, clinics and medical practitioners everywhere.
This program is MCLE and CME Accredited.

New Rules on Letter of Credit Transactions
The new rules in letters of credit (LC) contained in UCP 600 and ISBP 2007 took effect on July 1, 2007. The revisions to these rules contain major changes which govern billions of dollars each year in LC transactions. While ISBP alone contain over 200 paragraph guidelines in the review of LC documents, UCP 600 has new provisions that one will need to know among many others:
• A leaner set of rules, with 39 articles rather than UCP 500’s 49
• A replacement of the term "reasonable time" with a definite number of days, for examining and determining compliance of documents
• Change practice for notice of refusal and redrafted transport articles
• How the on us is now on the issuer to be precise in their LC terms in order to reduce the element of interpretation
• New section, final definitions of key terms (e.g. "honour" and "negotiation")
• An expanded description of “original documents”
• The precise obligation of a confirming bank when the beneficiary has presented their documents directly to the issuing bank
• Clarifications on when an amendment to a credit has been accepted and is binding on the beneficiary
• Standards for examining documents and data
• Definition of when Incotems 2000 must be reflected in the documents

Best Practices in IT Audit
Government regulations, business stakeholders, contractual obligations, and concerned executive management are all drivers for the initiation or expansion of IT audits. If not properly planned, IT audits can cost your company loss of clients, resources, downtime, delays, and added frustration. Well- planned IT audits, however, can assist your company in leveraging existing business and getting your foot in the door into new markets.
In this one-day seminar, attendees will learn the importance of IT auditing, how to prepare for an IT audit, what to expect during an audit, how to read an audit report, and how to build your own internal IT audit/monitoring program. IT audits by themselves are not business-enabling, but the results of those audits can help you gain a competitive advantage. By utilizing these best practices in IT audit and by self-auditing, your company will have that advantage. This program addresses the different types of IT audit, including Sarbannes-Oxley, ISO 17799 and SAS 70.
